You can now integrate Membrain with multiple cloud apps using our PieSync integration.
It provides 100+ different integrations, with new apps being added by PieSync every week.
Integrations include services like Email Marketing & Automation apps, Customer Support, Accounting, eCommerce and much more. It's a very handy tool to connect Membrain to a variety of sources, and is a powerful complement or alternative to our existing Zapier integration, as the two solutions are used in quite different situations.
What does it do?
The Membrain and PieSync integration offers a two-way sync between Membrain and apps like MailChimp, ActiveCampaign, Google Contacts, and many more. No more need to import and export contacts to and from Membrain. You can keep contacts synced in real time to always have up-to-date customer information all through your tech stack.
What can it connect to?
Just see below for some of the great products you can now easily connect to. Integration Christmas came early this year.
You can keep it simple to get started and then add sophisticated "if/then" statements to have full control over which contacts to sync and when, and you can map all key fields on a contact level to ensure they are always up-to-date.
1: Set up your PieSync account
In PieSyncs Help Center they have a great article on how to get the integration set up. Click here to learn more. You'll to set up a PieSync account, but then you'll quickly be up and running! It's just that easy. After that, you'll take the steps below to set up your first sync.
2: Choose your apps of choice
Select the apps that you would like synced. After selecting your first app (such as Membrain), you will be able to select the second app. Piesync will then connect the two on next step.
To utilize PieSync, you need to have accounts with the apps you selected. Connect PieSync to these apps allows them to start the configuration of contact data between the two apps. The first time using PieSync you will need to authorize both apps.
If you already have a connection with any of these apps, you can choose to re-purpose that authorization. This makes it very easy to use PieSync for a number of integrations, building your own web of cutting-edge solutions.
4: Configure your sync
You have to tell PieSync how it should keep your data in sync. By default, PieSync recommends a two-way sync with a drop-down to allow for one-way syncs.
A two-way sync starts off with 2 rules. Each rule defines the conditions of each side of the sync. PieSync looks at all the data stored on each side, so you have full control over exactly which data to move from one side to the other.
5: Adding conditions & actions
All applications have their quirks and your contact data doesn't look the same in different tools.
- In marketing, customers are recipients that move across distribution lists and change subscriber status
- For invoicing tool, they have carefully kept address & contact information
- When focusing on contacts management with tools linked to your phone, you expect to have their phone numbers and benefit from caller ID
- In your e-commerce platform, new buyers become customers
- And in your Membrain, your customers should consolidate all of this information into a single view
Through PieSync you can and should tweak the sync so that not only contacts get synced, but you also respect the segmentation, tags, groups, categories, custom attributes, subscription status etc. of the apps that the contacts live in.
What you can do varies from different products. And once connected through PieSync, the possibilities are practically infinite.
6: Field mapping
This sync can do way more than just bringing over a name or email address.
PieSync has a helpful default field mapping that shows default fields that they will always keep in sync, including details of how they are mapped between the two apps you have connected. These are needed to maintain the integrity of the sync and can't be changed.
In the PieSync pro plan and up you also have customizable field mapping and this is where it can get really exciting. Map fields stored in your apps that PieSync hadn't already set up and get really creative with your setup.
3.5 Start syncing!
That's it. You're pretty much good to go!
PieSync recommends that no other integrations are running in parallel to PieSync for the accounts you have connected in PieSync. Other integrations will have access to your data and have the ability to update and change this as well, which may potentially cause issues. For this reason, Piesync recommends using PieSync and nothing else to keep your data in sync.
In case you have a lot of contacts in your applications, the initial sync will take some time, even if you configured PieSync only to sync a subset of your contacts. During the initial scan, we need to process all of your contacts (also the contacts outside the chosen subset) to avoid duplicates during the sync.
After the initial sync, it should never take much longer than five minutes for updates to show.
